Can we use brown Fiesta STs instead?

Top Gear episodes are made of two pieces. The first is the feature pieces, edited far in advance of the airing. The parts are shown during the audience taping. The audience taping itself is the second part and is also done in advance of airing the episode. Many takes are made to get the dialog and audience reaction just right. Heck they even adjust which women get to stand beside them. Once these parts are all done they put them together as much as a week or more in advance of airing them. This timeline means that last weeks episode is without a doubt intact and in the can. Possibly more are done. The features are almost certainly wrapped up. Of course they can't show them because Clarkson is in them and can't be edited out.

So ready the Minis!

No - as we know from Oppo ownership, Fiesta ST's are much more likely to be damaged than any other Jalop car on the road.

Actually they often edit the live segments the few days before the sunday airing. For some of the specials, the recording is done far in advance, but most weekly episodes are shot the wednesday before. Most, not all. I don't think the BBC would've canned that first episode if it had already been shot because the taping would've happened before the assault so Jeremy was ostensibly "paid" for that work.

Focus ST's are the most likely. Fiesta ST's are only damaged if you go ice racing without a rollcage......which should come as a surprise to no one.

True. With non-linear editing they can assemble the parts up to a few days of airing to keep the presenter's comments topical.

Can I use my Fusion? No one would suspect that. I'll just throw a Mondeo badge on it and I'll blend right in.

Good idea! We'll put the tapes in the Mondeo, and use the Minis to run distraction!

I have a feeling the pretaped remote portions of the last few episodes are going to be shown eventually. The BBC might get a couple of other presenters or comedians to record an intro, and then they'll just piece the clips together as best they can.

Kind of like what Comedy Central did after Dave Chappelle suffered his nervous breakdown and went to South Africa.
